TXA collects and holds a range of personal information, including in particular the following:
TXA does not sell or rent personal information to others, nor trade such information.
TXA generally only uses personal information collected in relation to reported reception difficulties to investigate, respond to and resolve such difficulties. TXA may disclose such personal information to third parties who help us to provide services such as contractors investigating reception difficulties. Where TXA collects personal information about an individual from ACMA or the Networks in relation to a reception difficulty, we may notify them of the results of our investigation.
Personal information collected from people with whom we do business is only normally used for the primary business purpose for which it was collected. Such information may be disclosed to other TXA contractors or clients as required for that purpose. TXA generally requires contractors and clients to whom it provides personal information to only use and disclose such information as permitted by the Privacy Act.
Personal information collected in relation to TXA’s website or its business is generally only used to analyse and improve the content and use of TXA’s website or for the primary business purpose for which it provided .
Otherwise, TXA will only disclose personal information if this is required by government officials or by law, or as permitted under the Privacy Act. TXA is not likely to disclose personal information to overseas recipients.
TXA takes reasonable steps to secure the personal information it collects. Personal information is stored on TXA’s IT systems which TXA takes reasonable steps to secure and protect from unauthorised access or use. Paper files that contain personal information are stored on locked premises.
Members of the public may deal with TXA without providing personal information, or by using a pseudonym. If a problem is reported to TXA, however, without personal information being given, TXA may not be able to locate and therefore resolve the problem.
Under the Privacy Act, you have a right to seek access to information which TXA holds about you (although there are some exceptions to this). You also have the right to ask us to correct information about you which is inaccurate, incomplete or out of date.
If you wish to access or change the personal information that TXA holds about you, please set out your request in writing, and forward this to our Privacy Officer using the details provided below.
To provide you with access to your personal information, TXA will not charge you for viewing your personal information in person, but we may charge you for the cost of providing copies of it, if this is required.
TXA retains personal information in accordance with its document management policies and practices, which generally require that such information is retained for at least seven (7) years after it is no longer required for the purpose of its collection. This time period reflects general legal obligations on TXA to retain its business records, and the normal limitation period for the bringing of legal claims. After this time, such personal information may be destroyed.
